Arrival Office

Arrival Office is a virtual reality experience that puts the player on the shoes of a migration officer in a fictional country. Developed by team Los Plus Ultra.

Experience’s “Evil” route playthrough.

It consists in a cycle of 3 in-game workdays. Every day, the officer will receive new cases in the form of written files, which will be narrated to the player whenever their face is near the paper (they can also read the case if they wish, since is like a real piece of paper placed on their desk with the case typed in it). After acquiring the information from the file, the officer will be able to use a stamp indicating if they approve or deny the entry of the person from the case in the country. After finishing a workday, a TV screen near the officer’s desk will show different news reports depending on the decisions taken. The cases vary in complexity, ranging from average young people seeking to study abroad to criminals running away from their former gangs after receiving death threats. From the first to the third day, the player will receive calls to his office from his boss, who has his own beliefs and agenda about immigration and will congratulate or scold the player according to their decisions.

The case narrations, TV news and dialogs from the boss are voice-acted by members of the team (in Spanish). The emphasis on narrative and the heavy weight given to the decisions the player can take, make this experience very interesting to both experience and watch as an outsider.

The experience is compatible with HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Samsung Odyssey, and only requires the standard controllers and the trigger button for interaction with the stamps.
